A PTFE membrane provides sealing between two fluids or two pressure zones. The seal can be perfect or porous depending on the type of PTFE used (virgin PTFE, modified (TFM) or porous).
PTFE membranes are used in dosing/filling devices in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries, as well as in diaphragm pumps in the chemical industry. Membranes intended for the food industry comply with food standards (EC 2004/1935, FDA, 3A).
For a membrane to function perfectly, it is essential to adapt its design and material to the technical constraints (pressure, fluids, temperature, etc.). The stroke of the membrane determines its shape, design, and diameter. Depending on the material and thickness of the membrane, flat or profiled seals can ensure watertightness. The watertightness of PTFE membranes can also be improved by interlocking components such as stainless steel reinforcement.
